Burt Bacharach & Hal David wrote this title song (and Cher was heard singing it over the closing credits) for the controversial film which featured Michael Caine in his breakthrough role. Cilla Black’s recording of “Alfie” went top-10 in England, while Dionne Warwick would later release the highest-charting U.S. version.
